Introduction

I forgot my Virginia Tech VT Username (PID) and/or my Virginia Tech ID number. How do I retrieve that information?

• Your Virginia Tech Username (PID) as defined in Standard for University Enterprise Electronic Login Credentials is the first part of your Virginia Tech email account.
  • This is the username used to sign in to services such as Canvas, OneCampus, HokieSpa, Zoom
• Your nine-digit Virginia Tech ID# is not the same as your PID. 
  • This was the number used when creating your PID and is on your Hokie Passport.
  • If you do not know your nine-digit Virginia Tech ID number, contact the appropriate office below:
    
    • New incoming undergraduates: Email admissions@vt.edu or call  (540) 231-6267 
    • New incoming graduate students: Call the Graduate School at 540-231-8636.
    • New veterinary students: Call DVM Admissions at 540-231-4699.
    • Current undergraduates: Email registrar@vt.edu or call (540) 231-6252 
    • Employees: Call the VT Human Resources Service Center at 540-231-9331 (8:30 am - 4:30 pm, Monday - Friday) or email perserv@vt.edu.
    • Alumni: Call the Alumni Office at 540-231-6285 or email alumni@vt.edu. If you attended or graduated prior to Fall 1976, contact the registrar to find your ID number.

The Alumni Office can only see VTID numbers (90#). They DO NOT have visibility to view/recover VT Usernames (PID)

If someone doesn't know their PID username you MUST direct them to

registrar.vt.edu > PID and ID Retrieval Request Form

The Registrar CANNOT provide a PID username via phone call
