Introduction
This article will explain how to publish an Outlook calendar to the web.
Instructions
Step 1 -
Open a web browser and navigate to my.office365.vt.edu.
Step 2 -
Log in if prompted. Once logged in, navigate to Outlook (in the lefthand navigation menu).
Step 3 -
Your Outlook email will open into a new tab. Click on the Calendar icon in the lefthand navigation menu of the Outlook window.
Step 4 -
Once the calendar window has loaded, click on the arrow beside your 'My Calendars' section to expand the section, then click 'Show all' to show all of your calendars.
Step 5 -
Select the calendar that you want to publish by clicking its name from this menu. Make sure that the circular bubble beside the calendar name is checked, and that all other calendar names are unchecked.
Step 6 -
With the appropriate calendar selected, click on the settings icon (located in the top righthand side of the window).
Step 7 -
In the Settings window, make sure that 'Calendar' is selected, then click on 'Shared calendars.'
Step 8 -
Scroll down this menu until you see the 'Publish a calendar' section. From here, once again select the calendar that you want to publish, then select the permissions you want applied to the calendar (whether you want viewers of the published calendar to see all of the calendar's information, or only certain details). Click 'Publish.'
Note: If you can't publish a calendar or don't see it in the selection menu, you may not have the proper permissions to publish (e.g., group calendars or calendars owned by others). If this is the case, contact IT support.
Your calendar is now published. You will see links to the live calendar in your settings menu; an HTML and an ICS link. We suggest that you use the HTML link for sharing your published calendar, unless you are familiar with using ICS links. You can click on the link to copy it to your clipboard, so that you can share it with others.
Note: if you would like to modify or unpublish a calendar, navigate back into the 'Publish a calendar' section of the settings menu, and click 'Unpublish.'
