Video Content Management - Submitting Video Assignments (for Students)


Introduction

Kaltura is the cloud-based video management system behind My Media and Media Gallery, which are Canvas LTI tools. Note that:

  • Kaltura appears in some places in My Media and Media Gallery and in the company's documentation and user guides.
  • Course Gallery is how you access Media Gallery in Canvas.

Instructions

Submitting Video Assignments

  1. Record your video and add it to My Media.
  2. Go to the video assignment in Canvas and choose a submission type. The available options will differ depending on what your instructor has set.
    • If you have a different view of Canvas, your instructor may have disabled the Assignment Enhancement Canvas feature. Instead, click Start Assignment

    • If you choose Text:
      1. In the Rich Content Editor, click the Embed Kaltura Media button.

      2. The Embed Kaltura Media window will open. Go to the My Media tab.
      3. Click Select next to the video you want to embed.
        • You can also click the down arrow to choose the size of the embedded video.

      4. The video will be added to the Rich Content Editor.
    • If you choose Media:
      1. Click Record Media to record a video directly on Canvas or Upload Media to upload a video file on your computer.

    • If you choose Upload:
      1. Drag or choose a file to upload.

  3. Click Submit Assignment

  • For Kaltura in Canvas or at video.vt.edu, go to the 4Help Portal, log in, and click Get Help. Specify where you are having the issue and include the video name, ID, and/or URL if applicable.
