Video Conferencing - Transferring Ownership of Zoom Meetings


Introduction

Zoom is a versatile video conferencing tool that unifies cloud video conferencing, simple online meetings, group messaging, and a software-defined conference room solution into one easy-to-use platform. You can host and join Zoom video conferences from your computer, tablet, or smartphone.

This article details how to transfer ownership of Zoom Meetings and Webinars. To transfer ownership, you must first be allowed scheduling privilege on the account that the meeting is being transferred to.

Instructions

Enabling Scheduling Permissions

The new person who is taking over the meeting will need to grant the current meeting host scheduling privilege on their Virginia Tech Zoom account.  

  1. Go to the Virginia Tech Zoom Portal and log in with your Virginia Tech Username (PID) and your password.

  2. Click Settings.

  3. Navigate to the bottom of the page to the Schedule Privileges section and click Add.

  4. Enter the email address of the person you would like to give Scheduling Privileges and click Save.

Transferring Meeting Ownership

The current owner of the Zoom Meeting should follow the directions below to transfer the meeting to the new owner only after they have completed the steps under Enable Scheduling Permissions.

  1. Go to the Virginia Tech Zoom Portal and log in with your Virginia Tech Username (PID) and your password.

  2. Hover over the meeting you want to transfer to the new owner and click Edit.

  3. Click the Schedule for field and click the person you are transferring the meeting to. Click Save.Image of the above instructions
  4. The new owner can now log into the Virginia Tech Zoom Portal and manage the meeting as the host.
