Introduction
Kaltura is the cloud-based video management system behind My Media and Media Gallery, which are Canvas LTI tools. Note that:
- Kaltura appears in some places in My Media and Media Gallery and in the company's documentation and user guides.
- Course Gallery is how you access Media Gallery in Canvas.

Instructions
Updating Comment Settings
Comments are enabled by default on Media Gallery videos. To disable comments,
- In Media Gallery, click on Settings, then Edit.
- Next to Options, clear the check box next to Enable comments in Media Gallery and Save.
Comments are private by default to a single Media Gallery. If you add the same video to another course's Media Gallery, the comments don't go with it. To change that:
- In Media Gallery, click the edit icon.
- Next to Options, clear the check box next to Keep comments private to Media Gallery and Save.
Commenting on Videos
- In My Media or Media Gallery, click a media thumbnail or title to go to the video.
- In the Comments tab under the media player, enter a comment in the Add a Comment text box and click Add.
- Your comment is displayed in the Comments tab.
Displaying Comments
- In My Media or Media Gallery, click a media thumbnail or title to go to the video.
- If comments were entered, they are displayed in the Comments area under the media metadata.
- When a limited number of comments are displayed, click Load more comments to display additional comments.
Replying to Comments
- In My Media or Media Gallery, click a media thumbnail or title to go to the video.
- In the Comments tab under the media player, hover over a comment and click Reply.
- In the Add a Comment text box, enter a reply and click Add.
- Your reply is displayed under the comment.
Deleting Comments
- You added the comment or reply.
- You are the media owner.
Deleting a comment also deletes replies to the comment.
To delete a comment:
- In My Media or Media Gallery, click a media thumbnail or title to go to the video.
- In the Comments tab under the media player, hover over a comment or reply and click Delete.
- Click Yes to confirm deletion.
