Introduction
Kaltura is the cloud-based video management system behind My Media and Media Gallery, which are Canvas LTI tools. Note that:
- Kaltura appears in some places in My Media and Media Gallery and in the company's documentation and user guides.
- Course Gallery is how you access Media Gallery in Canvas.

Accessing My Media
From Canvas
- Log into Canvas with your Virginia Tech PID and PID passphrase.
- If you've forgotten your PID, go to Finding My Forgotten VT Username (PID).
- If you've forgotten your PID passphrase, go to Changing or Resetting My Password.
- On the Global Navigation Menu, click My Media to view and manage your private videos.
From video.vt.edu
- For teaching and learning videos, you should use My Media and Media Gallery in Canvas.
- For other videos, faculty and staff can access My Media at video.vt.edu.
- Students do not have accounts at video.vt.edu and will not be able to access their videos there.
- Go to video.vt.edu and click Guest -> Login. Log in with your Virginia Tech PID and PID passphrase.
- Click your name, then My Media.
Accessing Media Gallery in Canvas
- Log into Canvas with your Virginia Tech PID and PID passphrase.
- If you've forgotten your PID, go to Finding My Forgotten VT Username (PID).
- If you've forgotten your PID passphrase, go to Changing or Resetting My Password.
- Navigate to the course where you'd like to view, upload, and manage videos associated with that course site.
- On the Course Navigation Menu, click Course Gallery.
- Click Authorize if you are prompted.
- You'll go to the course's Media Gallery.
Showing/Hiding Kaltura tools in Canvas
Like other Canvas tools, you can show and hide Media Gallery on a Course Navigation Menu. See Canvas documentation: How do I manage Course Navigation links?
