Changing Your Time Zone in Slack


Introduction

This article describes

In Slack, timezone settings are configured on a per-person basis only. If you are traveling outside of your normal time zone, setting your current local time within Slack will make sure that your Slack reminders and Do Not Disturb hours happen in your current local time.

Instructions

To Configure Slack Timezone Settings from within a Web Browser

  1. Log into the Virginia Tech Slack web page (https://virginiatech.slack.com).
  2. Follow the instructions on this page: the Manage your time zone preferences Slack help page.

To Configure Slack Timezone Settings from within the Slack Desktop Application

  1. Click the account avatar at the top-right of the window.
  2. Select Profile.

  3. At the right select Edit.

  4. In the window that appears, in the Time Zone drop-down, click the appropriate time zone.
  5. Click Save Changes.

Please remain aware that other people within your workspace may not be in the same time zone, and exercise discretion over the use of the Slack announcements feature including @everyone or @channel. For more information, see Slack's "Notify a channel or workspace" help page.
