You have received an email that an approval request is waiting for you. The email looks similar to the example below. You can learn how to approve or reject an approval request through the following methods:
Example Email:
To find approvals that are waiting for your action:
1. Go to the IT service portal at: http://4help.vt.edu
2. If you are not already logged in, log in using your PID and password, which you use for Canvas, Hokiespa, or OneCampus. Once you are logged in, you are looking at the webpage that displays "How can we help?" search box.
3. In the top menu, to the left of your name, click the Approvals link. If you do not have any approvals waiting, you will not see this menu item.
4. To view more information about the request, click the link of the request. On the next page, you will see the workflow and details of the requested item.
5. Click either the Approve button or the Reject button. If you reject the request, enter notes in the comments text box. Let the requester know why you rejected it and what their next steps are to re-submit their request.
6. After you have approved or rejected the request item, you are now done with the approval; however, there may be other request items or catalog tasks that you or someone else needs to do to complete the workflow.
To find approvals that are waiting for your action:
Method 1: Approve or reject all requests on one screen
1. Go to the IT service portal at: http://4help.vt.edu
2. If you are not already logged in, log in using your PID and password, which you use for Canvas, Hokiespa, or OneCampus. Once you are logged in, you are looking at the webpage that displays "How can we help?" search box. On the right of the screen, click Approvals to see the list of waiting approvals.
3. Click View all approvals to see all the items that are waiting for your approval.
4. Click Options to view details of the request and then click the appropriate button to Approve or Reject a request.
5. After you have approved or rejected the request item, you are now done with the approval; however, there may be other request items or catalog tasks that you or someone else needs to do to complete the workflow.
Method 2: View details of a single request and approve or reject it
1. Go to the IT service portal: http://4help.vt.edu
2. If you are not already logged in, log in using your PID and password, which you use for Canvas, Hokiespa, or OneCampus. Once logged in, you are looking at the webpage that displays "How can we help?" search box.
3. Scroll down until you see the My Approvals card at the right of the screen. Click options to view the details. Then click approve or reject.
4. If you reject the request, leave notes in the comment field as to why you rejected the request and what the next steps are for the requestor to correctly re-submit their request. To get to the comments field, you will have to click on the RITM link.
5. After you approve or reject it, you are now done with the approval; however, there may be other request items or catalog tasks that you or someone else needs to do to complete the workflow.
