- Students use iClicker remotes or their mobile devices to answer quiz and survey questions during class.
- Instructors can save responses to their computers or on the cloud.
- Instructors can import or sync grades with Canvas.
Your instructor decides which iClicker device you'll use:
- Mobile device and the iClicker Student app (you purchase subscription at the bookstore).
- iClicker remote (you purchase remote at bookstore).

If your instructor lets you use either device, we recommend using your mobile device and the iClicker Student app.

Instructions
Setting up iClicker Cloud
Follow all steps for both the mobile app and remotes!
Create an iClicker Student Account
- Go to the iClicker Student website and click Sign Up!
- Type Virginia Tech and click Virginia Tech from the drop-down.
- Click Next.
- Enter your information, create a password, and agree to the Terms of Use. Click Create Account.
Add Your Canvas Courses
- Go to the iClicker Student website and log into your account.
- You can also add courses from the iClicker Student mobile app.
- On the Courses page, click the + icon.
- Click Virginia Tech.
- Type in the course name and choose from the search results.
- On the Confirm Course page, make sure you chose the correct course and click Add this Course.

Compare iClicker Cloud Account Email with Canvas Email
Student iClicker accounts are now automatically linked to your Canvas identity by matching email addresses, so please make sure to use the same email address as the one on your Canvas profile. You do not need to take any additional action, such as clicking a link inside Canvas, to associate your account anymore.
If your email addresses match but the link isn't established, go to the 4Help Portal, sign in, and click Get Help to submit an incident.

Using the iClicker Student Mobile App
Get the iClicker Student App
- Go to your mobile device's app store and search for iClicker Student. The app is published by Macmillan Learning.
- Download the iClicker Student app for students.
- From the app, log into your iClicker Student account.
Purchase a Subscription
Buy an iClicker remote with an access code included
You can purchase or rent an iClicker remote that come with a six month subscription. Get remotes:
To activate the access code, go to: Redeem the access code.
Buy an iClicker Student App subscription directly from iClicker
Look to see if you have an access code before buying an iClicker Student App subscription.
- If you have an iClicker remote, check to see if it came with an access code.
- Check your textbooks as some come with access codes.
If you have an access code already, go to: Redeem the access code.
If you don't have an access code, you can purchase an iClicker Student App subscription.
- Go to the iClicker Student website and sign into your account.
- Click the more options menu.
- Click Subscriptions.
- Click Polling.
- Click Purchase Subscription.
- Choose a subscription length.
- Enter your payment information.
- Click Review & Confirm.
- Confirm your information.
- Your subscription will be applied to your iClicker Student account.

Redeem Access Code
- Go to the iClicker Student website and sign into your account.
- Click the more options menu.
- Click Subscriptions.
- Click Polling.
- Click Enter Access Code.
- Type in your access code.
- Click Submit.
- Your subscription will be applied to your iClicker account.

Using iClicker Remotes
If your instructor allows you to use iClicker remotes, you will need to do the additional steps below. You must follow all these steps to make sure your grades appear in Canvas!
Purchase Your iClicker Remote
- Students can purchase iClicker remotes in the Virginia Tech bookstore.
- Students cannot share iClicker remotes because each remote is registered to a single student.
- You must register your remote in your iClicker Cloud account.
Register Your iClicker Remote in iClicker Cloud
- Go to the iClicker Student website and log in.
- The first time you log in, you'll be asked to register a remote. Click Register a Remote.
- If you've already logged in, you'll go to the Courses page. Click the menu icon at the top right, then Profile. Then click Register Remotes.
- Enter the Remote ID from the sticker on the back of the remote and click Save.

Taking a Poll Using iClicker Cloud
- In the iClicker Student app, make sure you're signed into your iClicker Cloud account.
- Click the course where you're taking the poll.
- Once your instructor enables a quiz, Click the Join button to take part in it.
- Tap your responses to the questions.
- When the instructor ends the poll, they might show the correct answer and response statistics.

Troubleshooting
I have a remote - why do I need a subscription?
The iClicker Student app and iClicker remote are separate response devices. Even if you have a remote, if you want to answer polls on your mobile device, you will have to pay for a subscription for the iClicker Student app.
My responses aren't ending up in Canvas Grades.
