Provisioning access to eduroam wireless and VPN is an automated process and services are added based on users’ affiliation with the University. In order to qualify for these services, the user must have one of the following affiliations:
If a user does not have one of these affiliations, and they will be a non-paid affiliate of the University for a period of time, your department must complete a P-86 form and submit this to HR to be processed. Once it is processed and complete, the user’s affiliation will be updated to VT-EMPLOYEE-NON-STATE (falls under the VT-EMPLOYEE umbrella) and services will be activated by the automated process. Once the user’s affiliation expires and the active affiliation is removed, the services will be deactivated by the automated process.
If the user does not have any of these affiliations, they will need to use the VT Open Wifi that’s available on campus. VPN access is not available to users who do not have an active affiliation.
