How do I make a recommendation for a shared resource in M365?


Introduction

Resource owners can use the Recommend button in MyCAT to suggest whether a resource is Needed (therefore, the desire is for the resource to be claimed by a department) or Not Needed (the resource manager does not believe the resource is necessary any longer). OU Admins must identify all resources their departments will retain by June 2, 2025, or they will become read-only. Unclaimed resources will be deleted starting on July 14, 2025. 

Instructions

  1. Log into the MyCAT.
  2. Scroll down to the M365 section.
  3. Expand the section by clicking on the arrow on the right.
  4. Set Role to Owner on the Role filter.
  5. For each shared resource that you wish to make a recommendation, click on the Recommend button.
  6. Select Needed (therefore, the desire is for the resource to be claimed by a department) or Not Needed (the resource manager does not believe the resource is necessary any longer).
    1. Add an optional note.
  7. Click Set.
