Requesting, Revoking, or Renewing a Personal Digital Certificate (PDC)


Important Changes to SMIME/Personal Digital Certificates Issuance

Introduction

The CA/B Forum, dedicated to enhancing online security, has introduced new requirements to bolster the security of SMIME/Personal Digital Certificates (PDCs). As we evaluate and implement these essential changes, we would like to notify our users that requests and renewals for PDCs will be temporarily unavailable.

Should you need to manage your existing P12 certificates, you can still access and perform actions within the certificate store. This includes downloading and revoking certificates directly from the store.

While no specific deadline for implementation currently exists, we encourage you to stay informed about further updates by reaching out to our support channels, either via VT4Help or middleware-g@vt.edu or middleware slack channel.

Downloading an InCommon PDC PKCS12

To download an InCommon PDC P12 certificate, follow these steps:

  1. Access the Certificate Manager site.
  2. Click on "My Certificate Requests."
  3. Locate the InCommon PDC you wish to download.
  4. Click "Action," then select "Download PKCS12 KeyPair."

Revoking an InCommon PDC

To revoke an InCommon PDC certificate, follow these steps:

  1. Access the Certificate Manager site.
  2. Navigate to "My Certificate Requests."
  3. Find the relevant InCommon PDC.
  4. Click "Action," then choose "Revoke."
  5. Confirm the revocation by checking the box and clicking "OK."
