Why Are You Asking for My Consent to Share Data with Some Services?

Consent is generally required for Web sites external to Virginia Tech. Consent is generally not needed for university Web sites or products purchased by the university with certain contractual agreements. Federal law (FERPA) and university policy require this distinction.

What Happens if I Choose Not to Share this Data?

You will not be able to access the service that is requesting the consent.

Can I Change My Mind and Change My Answer?


Alternatively, since your preferences are valid for 30 days, you can wait for the period to elapse.

However, once you have shared data with a third party, Virginia Tech cannot request or require service providers to remove data that you shared previously.

Can I Share Some Things and Not Others?

No. You either consent to share all data shown on the screen or none of it.

Does the Information Shared with Service Providers Ever Change? How Will I Know?

If Virginia Tech elects to share additional information with a service provider, you will be prompted and required to renew your consent to share the information.
