VPN - Cisco Secure Client Installation – for Division Employees


Introduction

Note: This article applies specifically to members of the Division of Information Technology. 

The Cisco VPN client is currently available on-demand through the Self Service Portals for Windows and macOS devices.

The installers will remove existing Ivanti installations prior to installing the Cisco client.

After Monday, December 15, 2025, devices that have not been upgraded via the Self Service portals will automatically receive the new client and have Ivanti removed.

Instructions

macOS:

Newly deployed macOS devices will automatically have the Cisco VPN client installed by Jamf during setup.

No configuration should be required by the user of the device.

Existing macOS devices that do not have the new Cisco VPN have the installation available in the Self Service app which will remove Ivanti and install and configure the new Client.

Simply select “Install”, or “Reinstall”, depending on the option available and the installation will proceed.

 

 

Windows Devices:

Intune Devices:

Existing devices in Intune, as well as newly deployed Intune devices, have the new VPN client available to install through the Company Portal App. To install, Select the “DoIT-Install Cisco VPN” item, and then “Install” (or “Reinstall”) on the item page to begin installation.

 

 

BigFix Enrolled Only Windows Devices:

For devices that are not enrolled in Intune but are enrolled in BigFix, installation of the client will be made available through an offer through the client-side BigFix application.

This is necessary only for devices ONLY enrolled in BigFix [some devices in Intune may see the offer if they have not installed the Cisco VPN client already].

The offer can be accepted by a non-admin user by:

  • Opening the BigFix app via the Start Button (or directly at "C:\Program Files (x86)\BigFix Enterprise\BES Client\BESClientUI.exe")
  • Selecting the offer and then the “Accept button”.
  • The installation will be performed in the background, and the status of the installation can be viewed in the Progress tab.
