Introduction

This article describes what to do if your contact information (e.g., name, address, office, job title, phone number) is missing, blank, or incorrect in the Global Address List (GAL), university directory, or Exchange Online.

Explanation

Students

• Students are set to be hidden from the GAL by default.
• Your address and phone number can be corrected by following the instructions at Managing Your Personal Contact Information and Visibility of It at Virginia Tech.
• Your name can be corrected by contacting the Registrar's office for undergraduates or contacting the Graduate School for graduate students.

Students That Have Become Virginia Tech Employees

Students are set to be hidden from the GAL by default.

First, change your Hokies password and VT Username passphrase to ensure that they are not expired.

If people are finding it difficult to find you now that you are an employee, contact 4Help by clicking Get Help on the 4Help portal to ensure that you are no longer hidden in the GAL. Replication of that information happens twice a week, so it can take three or four days after being unhidden for your information to be visible. If you are having continued trouble with sharing and permissions, make sure you remove sharing and reshare after you are no longer hidden in the GAL.

Virginia Tech Employees

Contact your departmental Human Resources representative to verify your contact information, correct it if needed, and / or to see if any of your information is suppressed.
