Rhino 8 Installation Instructions


Instructions

 

This software must be purchased before a license and download is made available. To order student software, please visit https://software.vt.edu/studentorder and place an online order.

 

Rhino 8 - macOS


 

  1. Access https://network.software.vt.edu and login using your VT PID and password. Select Rhino Software and then choose, Rhino 8.0 for MacOS.
  2. After accepting the licensing terms, click the Product Key(s) button to obtain your product key. The product key is necessary for activation, so write down or copy the product key.

  3. Click the Download button to begin the download. Once the download has completed, double-click the downloaded file to mount the installer.

  4. When the window opens, drag the Rhinoceros icon to the Applications folder.

  5. Upon opening Rhino 8 for the first time, you will be asked to enter an email address, and to review and accept the license agreement and privacy policy. Read through both, then check the box next to I have read and agree to: to accept the terms and click Continue.
    NOTE: If you prefer to remain anonymous, it is recommended to use an alias. Adding, Creating, and Using Email Aliases

  6. Next, you will be asked to provide a license. Click Enter a license key in the licensing window to proceed.

  7. Now, enter the license key you obtained in step 2 and click Continue.

  8. You will then be asked whether you would like to Float [the] license between computers or Lock [the license] to this computer. This is entirely your choice, but if you choose to Float [the] license between computers you will be required to create a Rhino account. 

    Select your preferred option
    1. If you selected Float license between computers, you'll now be asked for additional information to "validate" the license. This can be skipped by clicking Skip Registration.

Rhino 8 - Windows


 

  1. Access https://network.software.vt.edu and login using your VT PID and password. Select Rhino Software and then choose, Rhino 8.0 for Windows.
  2. After accepting the licensing terms, click the Product Key(s) button to obtain your product key. The product key is necessary for activation, so write down or copy the product key.

  3. Click the Download button to begin the download. Once the download has completed, double-click the downloaded file to run the installer.

  4. When the installer opens, click Install Now to begin installation.
  5. Once installation is complete, click Close to exit the installer.
  6. Upon opening Rhino 8 for the first time, you will be asked to enter an email address, and to review and accept the license agreement and privacy policy. Read through both, then check the box next to I have read and agree to: to accept the terms and click Continue.
