Tips for an easy return to campus this fall:
Instructions
Resetting or Changing VT Username (PID) Passphrase
Resetting or Changing VT Hokies ID (PID@vt.edu) Passphrase
- Hokies ID is used to sign in to Office, Outlook, Exchange Mail
- PID is used to sign in to Canvas, onecampus.vt.edu, HokieSpa, and most VT-related sites
- When resetting the PID passphrase users can choose to unify PID and Hokies passphrases
Account Recovery in the event user forgot password:
- Go to onecampus.vt.edu
- Search/Select Manage Accounts
- Select Recovery Options
Connecting to the Internet:
Wireless:
Join the “eduroam” wireless network with your VT username (PID@vt.edu) and your network password.
Your network password consists of 16 characters and three dashes: (UYWO-IOON-DICL-QWAZ).
Enter the entire passphrase, including dashes but careful to avoid a blank space at the end.
Wired (ethernet):
Each residence hall room has one active 1 Gigabit per second (Gbps) wired network portal.
Residents may purchase an unmanaged Ethernet switch to provide more wired network connections.
Finding your Network Password:
- Go to onecampus.vt.edu
- Search/Select Manage Accounts
- Under Network Access click Network Password to view your network password and/or generate a new one.
Two-Factor Authentication:
4Help recommends enrolling at least two (2) two-factor authentication (2FA) options with Duo in case your primary option fails. If you have a smartphone, you should install the Duo Mobile app as one of your 2FA options. You should also print off one-time bypass codes in case they are needed.
If all of your devices are temporarily lost, broken, fail, or are left at home and you have not printed one-time bypass codes call 4Help at 540-231-4357 for assistance.
If you do not have a smart device to enroll, consider purchasing a security token from Software Distribution or Hokie Centric.
It is recommended that students print off bypass codes just in case they are needed.
One-time use passcodes can be printed at any time for access to your account.
Print One-Time Use Passcodes:
- Go to onecampus.vt.edu
- Search/Select Manage Accounts
- Under 2-Factor Account click Print Passcodes
- Click Generate to print backup codes.
