Ethernet Ports in Residence Halls

Question:

In my Virginia Tech residence hall room, my wired Ethernet connection does not work and does not have Internet connection.

Answer:

Each residence hall room is equipped with a single, 1 Gbps Ethernet (wired) connection. Only one Ethernet port in each room is active.

If the Ethernet Internet connection is not working:

  1. Try connecting to the other Ethernet port in the room.
  2. Try using a different Ethernet cable, to verify that the first cable is not the problem.
  3. If there is still no connectivity, submit an incident to 4Help at http://4help.vt.edu
Please include your residence hall name, room number, and the port number.
