You will need to scan your television for channels when you first connect to cable service and when there is a change in the program lineup. The channel scanning process varies between manufacturer and model. 

1. Put your TV in Cable mode
2. If given the option, choose Cable STD or standard scan
3. If prompted, choose scan for digital channels

Channel scans can take from 5 to 30 minutes. When you are done, you should have access to the available program lineup.
