Introduction
This article describes how to check Virginia Tech Google Workspace departmental storage within the CAT. This applies to storage that goes against a department's allocation.
Instructions
For users:
- Log in to the CAT. You will be required to use the VPN if you are not on the campus network.
- Select Reports.
- Select the Google Storage Usage report.
- Set Department OU and/or Department to filter down to the specific groups you are interested in.
- Set Account Type to User to filter out Google Auxiliary Email (GAE) accounts.
- Set Departmental Account to Yes to filter out former and student wage employees.
- This report does not summarize the information. To do that, you will need to export it to a .csv file and import to your preferred spreadsheet program. To do this, click Export beneath the report.
- Evaluate and manually remove any invalid users, if needed (i.e., departments do not need to cover student wage employees).
- If any users need to be removed from your OU, please see Using the Collaborative Computing Solutions Admin Tool (CAT).
- Use the results to plan for your department's allocation and purchase of additional storage space. User data is updated nightly.
For shared drives:
- Log in to the CAT. You will be required to use the VPN if you are not on the campus network.
- Select Reports.
- Select the Google Shared Drives report.
- Set Department OU and/or Department to filter down to the specific groups you are interested in.
- Set Account Type to User to filter out Google Auxiliary Email (GAE) accounts.
- Set Departmental Account to Yes to filter out former and student wage employees.
- This report does not summarize the information. To do that, you will need to export it to a .csv file and import to your preferred spreadsheet program. To do this, click Export beneath the report.
