Introduction
The university manages a number of frequencies in a specific wireless spectrum. Those are similar to cellular frequencies that are managed by cellular carriers. Virginia Tech’s researchers are allowed to perform experiments using those frequencies, if they follow FCC regulations. In case of a violation, the FCC or a national carrier, can request for an experiment to be stopped. This stop request will come as a phone call to 4help.
Instructions
The FCC or a national carrier can call Virginia Tech due to a “Program Experimental License interference” violation. The caller may also include one of the following frequency call signs that VT manages: WA3XCQ, WA3XBY, WA3XDY, WA3XDZ.
Keywords that should trigger this procedure:
- Program Experimental License interference
- Call Sign: WA3XCQ
- Call Sign: WA3XBY
- Call Sign: WA3XDY
- Call Sign: WA3XDZ
- “Stop Buzzer”
4help procedure:
- When a call with those parameters has been received by 4help, create a ticket with a short description of “FCC” and assign it to NI&S.
